Ibercisa Deck Machinery has designed, manufactured and supplied the deck machinery for the Argos Cíes fishing vessel. The equipment incorporates the latest technological developments made by Ibercisa Deck Machinery. The winches are electrically driven giving improved control as well as a reduction in maintenance costs and increased  energy and onboard environment efficiency and a smaller carbon footprint.

The Argos Cíes incorporates:

- Two electric trawl winches with AC system with return energy driven by an electric motor of 320 kW at 741 rpm with a capacity for 3400m of 32mm diam. cable and a nominal line pull capacity of 39 tons at 44 m/min on the first layer.

- Two electric Gilson winches driven by a 132 kW motor at 488 rpm with a capacity for 200m of 40 mm diam. cable and a nominal line pull of 29,5 tons at 25 m/min on the first layer.

- Two electric Sweep line winches driven by a 160 kW motor at 1480 rpm with a capacity of 300m of 60mm diam. cable with a line pull strength on the first layer of 28,2 tons at 30,7 m/min.

- Two electrical trawl winches driven by a  125 kW motor at 1488 rpm with a capacity of 100m of 24mm diam. cable with a nominal line pull capacity of 22,9 tons at 30/min.

- One double anchor winch, electrically driven by a motor of 150kW at 1465 rpm with a rope capacity of 60mm diam. or chain of 34mm diam.

- Two electric capstans driven by a 2kW motor at 1477 rpm with a rope capacity of 50mm and a line pull capacity of 4,9 tons at 23,9 m/min.

- One electric net shooting winch driven by a 30 kW motor at 1465 rpm.  With a capacity for 50m of 22 mm diam. cable and a nominal line pull of 3,6 tons at 42.2, m/min on the first layer.

- One electric net drum with independent drive on each roller vui a 125 kW at 1480 rpm and with a line pull capacity of  1,67 tons at 36,4 m/min. 

- An electric net sounder driven by a 30 kW motor at 1450 rpm with a capacity for 3000 metres of 11,2mm diam. cable and a nominal line pull of 3,4 tons at 49,5 m/min on the first layer.

The order also includes two blinds, automatic trawl system for trawl winches and sounder, winch control system and electrical equipment for the trawl winches, net drum and auxiliary winches with water cooled frequency converters and energy return.

Ibercisa has manifested its satisfaction for having formed a part of this project which involves a new generation vessel.  The "Monteferro" owned by Kalamar, which also operates in the Falkland Islands with the same Ibercisa technology has given a magnificent performance throughout its first  year of fishing these waters in  demanding weather conditions and a remote location and the Company is sure that the Argos Cies will obtain similar results.  In order to ensure this, Ibercisa will monitor and maintain constant contact with the vessel for the first few weeks.  "It is in the first fishing triales that the essential  configuration of the control systems is adapted to the complete satisfaction of the Captain and his crew and it is an excellent opportunity for the technicians from Ibercisa  to increase their knowledge of  different fishing techniques in order to continue improving our systems", say representatives of the Company.
