In an interview published in the latest Industrias Pesqueras Magazine, the managing director of Ibercisa Deck Machinery, Roberto Rodriguez Orro, analyses the present situation of the Company during COVID-19 and underlines the importance of an efficient technological service abroad, something which has been developed over the years.
In the same way he emphasizes the company’s technological alliances with large international companies such as Siemens, as well as other complementary companies such as Melcal, Mampaei o Scantrol. In the first instance we are not only creating the development teams, as well as having Siemens teams at our factory, but also making joint developments in energy saving in vessels such as hybrid propulsion or on board energy control systems.
Ibercisa’s commitment to international renown means “ we have to keep a constant watch on our competitors but being smaller we are more flexible and have a greater capacity to adapt to client requirements.” Orro goes on to explain that other company strengths include diversification, “both geographic and in market segments and the size of the company allows us to take advantage of all this geographical and sectorial segmentation”.
One of the other props of Ibercisa’s strategy is its investment in I+D in the area of technology insofar as tools are concerned but especially in personnel. “We have grown with a team which mixes experience, youth and high qualification. Our team is good in all the areas; design, manufacture, mechanics, automation all focussed on service and support to clients”.
Roberto finishes of reminding that the naval sector is somewhat abandoned and yet, “it has a great knock-on effect because when we speak of 1000 jobs in the naval sector, we know that this can generate over 3000 indirectly.
