Remotely controlled machinery and energy efficiency

Ibercisa Deck Machinery has supplied the deck machinery for the “Montelourido”, as they did for the “Monteferro”, and with a similar philosophy, as both are aiming for energy efficiency and have been supplied with Siemens water cooled and energy regeneration equipment, which optimises the vessels’ energy use. The main difference between the two vessels is the increased power of certain winches, such as the main towing winches, which on the second vessel reach 310Kw at nominal output.

The "Montelourido" has a Scantrol automatic fishing system installed, integrated with the Ibercisa winch control system. The equipment also boasts remote access which give the shipowner access to technical assistance 24/7. Ibercisa technicians can resolve the skipper’s doubts as they have access to the entire control system: programming, screens, visualisations, alarms, etc., as such offering a complete service of assistance to the vessel.

The equipment supplied principally consists of:

- Two electrically driven trawl winches with 310 kW motors running at 750 rpm, with the capacity for 3400 metres of Ø32 mm cable and a pulling capacity of 37.8 tonnes on the first layer.

- Two electrically driven gilson winches with 132 kW motors running at 1488 rpm, with the capacity for 200 metres of Ø40 mm cable and a nominal power of 29.5 tonnes on the first layer.

- Three electrically driven sweepline winches with 132 kW motors running at 1488 rpm, with the capacity for 300 metres of Ø28 mm cable and a nominal pulling capacity of 19.6 tonnes on the first layer.

- One electrically driven cod end winch with a 11 kW motor running at 1488 rpm, with the capacity for 100 metres of Ø24 mm cable and a pulling capacity of 20.1 tonnes on the first layer.

- One electrically driven out haul winch with a 30 kW motor running at 1465 rpm, with the capacity for 50 metres of Ø22 mm cable and a nominal pulling capacity of 3.6 tonnes on the first layer.

These winches are complemented by net drums, anchor windlasses and mooring and auxiliary winches.

The sister ship, the "Monteferro", which operates in Falklands Waters, is reporting magnificent performance in demanding sea conditions. What is more, Ibercisa technicians carry out the control and tuning of the equipment during the first fishing trials, a fundamental aspect to achieve optimum performance.
