We at Ibercisa Deck Machinery bid farewell to 2021 with a bittersweet feeling.
It has been a tough year for the entire Ibercisa staff, as it meant saying goodbye to Alfonso Paz-Andrade, the founder of this company and a great advisor with a broad and accurate business vision and unparalleled leadership capacity. His loss is a most painful feeling will stay with us.
He brought us to 2021 as a company in great shape and with good prospects for 2022. This fiscal year has been affected by increases in the costs of raw materials and fuel. A year that will be remembered for the rising cost of energy. We have been able to overcome these factors that have hit the economy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to both our firm commitment to the local supply chain, and to a professional team that has managed to face these logistical challenges.
This increase in energy costs has particularly reinforced our commitment to the design and manufacture of efficient equipment that is more environmentally friendly. Our alliance with Siemens has flourished, and has resulted in the installation onboard the Baldvin Njalsson of our energy control system powered by a permanent magnet generator.
2021 has also been a special year in the towage market with important supplies for Svitzer, Starnav and Sasemar, among others; a market in which we will continue to grow in 2022, as well as in that of oceanographic vessels; a technologically advanced sector in which Vigo, our home city, has proved to be a leader in their design and construction.
I can’t say goodbye to this year without thanking all the Ibercisa staff for their involvement and professionalism in 2021, providing answers and solutions to customers from a distance and in a turbulent economic and health situation.
Our thanks as well to our clients for trusting in our know-how and working hand in hand with Ibercisa Deck Machinery to bring all of our projects to fruition.
We look forward to a 2022 full of new projects and developments.
Happy New Year to everyone!
