Baird Maritime Awards has announced its
nine prizewinners for 2022 through “Fishing Boat World”,
three of which are kitted out with Ibercisa Deck Machinery. They are the research vessel Tarajoq, the Icelandic trawler Baldvin Njalsson, and the factory trawler Georgiy Meshcheryakov.
The research vessel
Tarajoq, 61 metres long and costing some 235 million Danish Krone, was the biggest ever research investment in Greenland. Built for the
Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, the vessel is equipped to map the topography of the seabed to a depth of 3000 metres.
Built at Astilleros Balenciaga to a Skipsteknisk design, Tarajoq has a complete package of electric fishing, oceanographic and mooring winches. The boat was especially designed to navigate and work in Arctic waters as well as to fish with both bottom trawl and pelagic nets. Added to that, it can carry out acoustic studies and seabed and fish stock measurements.
The factory trawler
Baldvin Njálsson GK-400, 66.30 metres long and 16 wide, was designed by
Skipasýn and built at
Astilleros Armón Vigo for the Icelandic company
Nesfiskur. As well as a full Ibercisa fishing winch package, comprising 3 main trawl winches (for twin trawling), each with 250kW power, a 110kW net drum with 22.5m3 capacity, and another 25 electric winches for various applications,
this trawler is the first vessel to incorporate the system developed by Siemens and Ibercisa Deck Machinery, named ULISES, that brings integration, industry 4.0, energy savings and cyber security, the latest technologies for efficiency and energy management installed on trawlers. It is a step forward in reduction of energy costs and emissions.
Finally, the super trawler
Georgiy Meshcheryakov, for the owner
JSC Okeanrybflot, 108 metres long with a beam of 20 metres, designed by Skipsteknisk and built at Tersan. The vessel is set up to catch and process cod, herring, and cephalopods, as well as the preparation of oil and fishmeal.
With a freezing capacity of 450 tonnes a day, she operates in the Okhotsk Sea, the Bering Sea and the surrounding areas. Ibercisa’s supply for this vessel includes a complete package of 48 electric winches, power and control cabinets for energy regeneration, and the latest autotrawl fishing system,
Scantrol Sym7.
