The Minister of Employment, Trade, and Emigration, José González, visited our facilities and highlighted the Xunta de Galicia’s commitment to retaining talent and promoting youth employment in the region to address challenges such as generational replacement and filling job vacancies. In this regard, he emphasized initiatives like the Investigo Program, which supports the hiring of people under 30 in the fields of research, technology, and innovation.

Between 2022 and 2024, the Galician government allocated over 27 million euros to this program, benefiting 213 companies and enabling 863 youth hires. One of these companies was Ibercisa Deck Machinery. José González toured our facilities and noted that more than 50% of the beneficiaries of these initiatives continue to work at the companies that trusted them through the Investigo framework. Also present during the visit were the Secretary General of Employment and Labour Relations, Pablo Fernández; the General Director of Ibercisa, Roberto Rodríguez; and other company representatives.

Through the Investigo 2024 program and with the support of more than 66,000 euros, Ibercisa hired two engineers who contribute to innovation in project management, design, and production launches. In this context, José González praised the company’s commitment to R&D&I and young talent—a commitment, he added, that, along with regional support for improving qualifications and offering opportunities for professional development in high-demand jobs, contributes to generational renewal in the productive sector.

During his visit to Ibercisa, the Minister also highlighted the Galician government's "pioneering commitment" to flexible training and professional retraining of workers. Among the initiatives in this area are the 7.5 million euros allocated to micro-training programs designed by the clusters of nine strategic sectors—including the naval and metal industries to which Ibercisa belongs—aimed at qualifying 17,000 people. In this way, José González stated, the government is helping to address another significant challenge: securing labor to boost the competitiveness and productivity of Galicia’s economic fabric. In this area, he also emphasized the talent attraction plan focused on encouraging the return of Galician emigrants and actions such as the job fairs held in Argentina and Uruguay.
