Features and Competitive Advantages of the New Tensioner-Stower Machine Developed by IBERCISA Deck Machinery.

IBERCISA Deck Machinery has completed the development of an innovative tensioner-stower machine, marking a significant milestone in efficiency, sustainability, and autonomy for operations in the naval, fishing, and offshore sectors. The equipment, designed as an autonomous system, stands out for its high-efficiency electric drive and its unique energy regeneration capability. This development consolidates IBERCISA's position as a leader in advanced engineering solutions for deck machinery.

Technological Foundation and Innovation
The core of the project was based on a comparative analysis of drive technologies to meet the objectives of high performance, low maintenance, and minimal environmental impact.

Key Component: A Permanent Magnet-assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor (PMa-SynRM) was selected.

Advantages of the Technological Choice:
Superior Energy Efficiency: Each component was analyzed to achieve a notable increase in the machine's efficiency.
Optimized Design: The motor offers higher power density, resulting in a more compact, reliable unit with lower cooling requirements.
Reliability and Reduced Maintenance: The simplicity of the mechanical system increases the service life and simplifies machine maintenance.

Main Operational Features
The machine has been designed to maximize efficiency and versatility in the work environment:
Autonomy and Adaptability: A quick-clamping system compatible with a wide range of reels of varying lengths and diameters.
Integrated storage for tools and spare parts to streamline adjustments.
Simplified Global Logistics: A modular design in a standard 20-foot container format (with ISO corners and forklift pockets), facilitating fast and economical worldwide intermodal transport.
Control and Safety: An intelligent PLC control system ensures optimal motor management, maintaining constant and uniform cable tension for safe, high-quality stowing.

Sustainability and Energy Regeneration System
The most disruptive breakthrough is the system's ability to function as a generator during braking and cable tensioning operations, converting inertia into electrical energy.

Regenerated Energy Flow:
Return to the grid: The energy is fed directly into the vessel's or shore facility's electrical grid.
Storage: Ability to store energy in an optionally installable battery system for later consumption.
Dissipation: As a safety option, surplus energy can be controllably dissipated through a resistor.
This functionality leads to a direct reduction in consumption and CO2 emissions, positioning the equipment as a solution aligned with the decarbonization goals of the maritime sector.

IBERCISA's new stower machine not only represents a technologically superior product but also offers a clear competitive advantage in terms of operating cost, sustainability, and safety.

The success of this development, supported by the Deseñapeme 2024 program (Exp. 40_IN848E_2024_887731) of the Galician Innovation Agency (Axencia Galega de Innovación, Xunta de Galicia), reaffirms the potential of Galician industry and IBERCISA's commitment to cutting-edge innovation.
