The christening of the Kolga took place in the port of Vigo.  The vessel AHT Kolga was built at the Armon shipyard for Heerema Marine Conractors. The vessel incorporate the latest technology from Ibercisa and has actually been custom built, like its twin vessel the Bylgia to house the towing winch AHT model MR-e/930/2/2500-89. The winch is electrically driven reaches a final weight of 280 tons, is supplied with two waterfall drums each with a capacity for 2.500 metres of 86.9 mm wire and the electric motors are with fixed magnets, with elevated par and low revolutions. During the ceremony the President of HMC praised the technical quality of the boat and announced that HMC is working on a new project to built a much larger vessel in the not too distant future and does not rule out the possibility of choosing a Vigo shipyard for the construction. In this sense he has called upon politicians to support the naval sector so that this town should not turn into a museum of shipyards. He pointed out that it is still possible to build high quality vessels both in technical and technological terms in Europe, at competitive prices. He had special praise for all the naval architects and engineers who enabled his company to achieve their highest technological requirements for the project. Watch the Towing winch AHT mod. MR-E/930/2/2500-89 at work on this video.
